About the Work

A pineapple, a batik cloth and a digital butterfly sharing one vertical stage.

Artist Statement

Nature has always been my greatest teacher, yet I am equally fascinated by how technology is reshaping the way we see and interpret the world. In this painting, the pineapple represents the abundance and vitality of nature, while the digital butterfly symbolises the emergence of artificial intelligence and technological innovation. Rather than standing in opposition, they exist in harmony, suggesting that tradition and progress can enrich one another. The batik cloth further anchors the composition in Malaysian cultural heritage, reminding us that as we embrace the future, our roots remain an essential part of our identity. Through this work, I hope to inspire viewers to see technology not as a replacement for nature, but as a new dancer sharing the same stage.
