“The pineapple has long been a recurring subject in my artistic journey, symbolising prosperity, resilience, and cultural identity. In this work, I present two contrasting interpretations of the same subject, separated yet intrinsically connected. One side reflects nature and tradition through the freshness of the fruit, delicate batik patterns, and the butterfly — a symbol of transformation and renewal. The other celebrates refinement and craftsmanship, where the pineapple is reimagined as an ornamental object with sculptural elegance. The central divide is not a barrier but a bridge, inviting viewers to reflect on how tradition and innovation coexist, shaping our evolving identities while remaining rooted in our heritage.”
